If it has full disk access, what stops it leaking data?
The two powers are separate. Full Disk Access lets it read; a network entitlement would let it send — and the Helper ships without one. macOS won't let it open a connection, so there's no path off your machine.
What is XPC, exactly?
XPC is macOS's built-in way for two processes on the same Mac to talk. It never touches the network. The Helper checks the code signature of whoever connects, so only the genuine Byty app is answered.
Can another app talk to the Helper?
No. The XPC listener validates the caller's Team ID and signature before responding. A different app — even with the same name — is rejected at the handshake.
Does it run all the time?
It sits idle in the menu bar using near-zero resources, and only does work when Byty sends a request. No background scanning, no scheduled phone-homes — there's nowhere to phone.
Is it really free?
Yes — no purchase, subscription or upsell. It exists only to unlock what the sandbox blocks for the Byty app you already have.
How do I uninstall BytyHelper?
Quit BytyHelper from the menu bar icon, then drag
/Applications/BytyHelper.app to the Trash. To remove its Login Item, go to System Settings → General → Login Items and remove BytyHelper.Read everything.
